Here are some guidelines for estimating how much space you will need for your planned wedding events.
Theater seating. Allow 6 sq. ft. per wedding guest if arranging all chairs in rows. Banquet seating. Allow 8 sq. ft. per wedding guest for oblong or rectangular tables; 10 sq. ft. per wedding guest for round tables seating 10; and 12 sq. ft. per wedding guest for round tables seating 6, 8 or 12. Cocktail-style receptions. Allow 6 sq. ft. per person if all wedding guests will be standing or 8 sq. ft. per person if some wedding guests will be seated. Dance area. Allow 2-4 sq. ft. per wedding guest. Bar area. Allow 100 sq. ft. for the wedding reception bar. Buffet area. Allow 100 sq. ft. for each table. Piano. Allow 50 sq. ft. for a spinet piano and 100 sq. ft. for a grand piano. Band. Allow 100 sq. ft. for entertainment by a band.
